What a bargain!

Last weekend I bought some bad a** boots for 4 cents!

Now, how did she do this you might ask........

So I am a member of the DSW Rewards club. I got a certificate for $70 because of some prior purchases I made. I went into the store looking for something to spend it on. I found these boots..... I can't remember how much they were but they were more than $70 --- probably more like $85. But there was a spot on them. So I got the manager to knock 20% off of them!

So then, I was under $70 so, I bought a bunch of these gel inserts I like and the total came up to...... like $69.96. But, the terms of the certificate says that it can't be applied unless there is a cash transaction. So, and the complete logic of this escapes me, I was charged 4 cents..... I didn't really question it though. 4 cents!!!! And I love them!!

That's one sweet Smokin Rasta Cat!

So I recall a few months ago reading a post by Afrobella on her blog about her love for flats. It was quite an empassioned and complete recommendation of a number of fashionable flat shoes. I myself am very comfortable in heels unless I am wearing flip flops on the beach or around the house.
But I did remember one particular pair of flats that she mentioned that I thought were really cute! So, I looked around for them online and couldn't find a pair anywhere in my size. It fact, it seemed as though they were discontinued/ So, I put it out of my mind.

Fast forward to my trip to LA in September. P and I were doing a little browsing at the Loehman's in Burbank and we were looking at the shoe section and there they were...... Sugar Shoes Smokin Rasta Cats, in exactly my size! So, of course, I had to buy them! And here they are....

I haven't actually worn them out but I think that they are so cute! I also found a pair of lavender Pumas in a style that I love (and have 3 other pairs in) in my size as well. It was like shoe nirvana!

The flip flop dilemma

I have developed a silver flip flop obsession..... Probably because they match my toes and just seem a color that seems less casual than other flip flops. (See!)

However, I have run into an issue. My favorite (and only) pair of silver flip flops seems to be breaking and I can't find a replacement pair because they are out of season and the company isn't making them right now, or the place I buy them from isn't selling them. So I decided to look for alternatives. It is better to have a back up pair anyway!

I looked at tons of pairs and I don't like any of them as much as the pair I had but I decided to try a pair in an effort to be openminded. And since Zappos.com has free next day shipping, I didn't have to wait long.
Here were my choices:

Number 1

Number 2

Number 3

Initially, I was just going to go with number 2 but they are so casual and completely flat. I do like the thin profile of the straps though. Number 3, forget about it! So shiny and pink! Yuck! I didn't love number 1 but when I tried them on, they were sooooo comfortable, and they have this little arch support thing so I am willing to overlook the green accents.

So now I have 2 new pairs of silver flip flops but i still like the old ones the best so I think I am going to try to get them fixed!

For the sake of fashion.....

So on my first day back to work after vacation, I decided that i wanted to look super cute and wear something to show off my tan. My slight dilemma was that it is too cool to wear something short sleeved..... So I decided to wear my teal skirt and shirt. I have recently discovered that teal looks pretty good on me. So I pulled together my outfit and then realized that the shoes I have that go with the outfit have impressively high heels (see left).....

What the h*$!, I have to wear the matching shoes..... Right?

So, by the end of the day, my feet were screaming! Probably not the best choice after a week of wearing flip flops........

Ah, the things we do for the sake of fashion........

Oops! I almost forgot! My matching hairtie!
