I bought a belt!

So something somewhat unusual about me is that I don't really wear belts. I don't know when it happened but I phased belts out of my wardrobe somewhere around college. It was not really a conscious thing but they just seemed like an encumbrance that I didn't need.

Well, last week, I bought my first belt in years. What precipitated this purchase? Low-rise jeans. In order to get jeans that fit me most other places, I have to buy a certain size but after the first wearing, the waist gets too loose. So, I when I was out doing some pre-job shopping I got the whim to buy a belt, something simple and I got a bonus as well....... it's reversible!! Just a twist and it goes from brown to black. Two for the price of one! I love it!

What we all have been waiting for!

There is nothing like a comfortable pair of jeans. But, if you are like me then you HATE shopping for jeans. It is a painful experience because they rarely fit right and, can we just forget about the skinny jean trend..... I didn't even try!

Typically, if I can get jeans over my calves, then you have to get past my thighs.... then, the hips (and I don't have the biggest hips). Oh yeah, and lets not forget the length. It is just painful! Often I leave feeling like all jeans are made for skinny, short, narrow hipped white girls!

Now, this has gotten better over the years. A lot of companies have caught on, offering a variety of cuts, lengths, etc of jeans and there are even companies like Baby Phat and Apple Bottom that celebrate our curves. But I am already traumatized. And, now, it is almost more intimidating because there are so many more styles to try on and narrow down.

So I was intrigued when I heard about Zafu.com

At Zafu, you fill out a simple but detailed survey about your shape and preferences when it comes to the fit of your jeans and it gives you suggestions based on those answers. And then you can narrow those results down by a number of factors like fit rating, length, brand, fabric etc...

I have gotten my results and I am feeling like this is doable. I know where to start. We'll see how it all turns out. And, please let me know what you think of the results you get.

For the sake of fashion.....

So on my first day back to work after vacation, I decided that i wanted to look super cute and wear something to show off my tan. My slight dilemma was that it is too cool to wear something short sleeved..... So I decided to wear my teal skirt and shirt. I have recently discovered that teal looks pretty good on me. So I pulled together my outfit and then realized that the shoes I have that go with the outfit have impressively high heels (see left).....

What the h*$!, I have to wear the matching shoes..... Right?

So, by the end of the day, my feet were screaming! Probably not the best choice after a week of wearing flip flops........

Ah, the things we do for the sake of fashion........

Oops! I almost forgot! My matching hairtie!
